Un nouveau mods proposé :

http://rofmods.com/en/Arras_Lens_Sector/

Description:

This mod completely remaps the front line from Arras to Soissons (~40km) to match the situation on April 3, 1917. Additionally the entire Arras and Lens sector has given a great deal of historically accurate changes in the form of completely redesigned airfields, cities, and industrial sectors that transform the sleepy farmland into the busy industrial sector that it was. We hope that it provides an incredibly immersive experience for missions dated from Dec 1916 - May 1917 along the entire length of the Hindenburg Line. Special thanks to all the community members who have created this mod for the community. The author of each mod is listed next to each description. Thanks again to all involved.
Details:
1. Trench lines moved to April 3, 1917 position from Arras, south to the end of the Hindenburg Line. (J5_Matthias)
2. Retexturing of ground for Hindenburg Line withdrawl, and complete remapping of artillery fire on the new front. (WW1EAF-Paf)

5. Complete historical layout and texture revamp of cities in the Arras sector: Avion, Fresnes, Lagnicourt, Lens (and surrounding townships/factories), Pelves, , Rouex (and the chemical works), Saily, Sallaumines, Vitry-en-Artois. ( WW1EAF-Paf)

Bonjour pilotes!

Excusez-moi, pour recrire en anglais (but using french language is tooo long ago I can only remember single words from school) :crying:

Its perfectly possible to only use the moved front. At the moment my reallife work is too much to put it up for you, but you can dig into it and try yourself. Its not that complicated actually.
Btw. I was looking at some nice airfields around Reims. What would be the best season and year to build something for this sector? I don't know much about it sadly.

Salut!

Hi! No worries to write in English, some of us understand it and we can translate for the others.

I've tried to "extract" the trenches only from your mod without the textures to have more accurate front for late 1917 (as described above), but with no success for now. But now that you said it is possible, I will put myself back to work and try to find out what I have to modify to have this mod adapted for the autumn and winter maps.

As for Reims, I think the best moment is late 1916/early 1917 (Chemin des Dames offensives) or even summer 1918 (battle of Reims). What airfeils especially are you refering to?

Considering that we haven't a proper two seater yet from this framerate, I'll better go for late/automn 1917 and Malmaison Offensive?

Bonsoir,

Thank you for the info. I just have come across this website and the aerial photos are just too tempting :D
http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escadril ... cation.htm

The reason I aks about season is, like you know from my actual work, I need a texture to base my work on. If I make airfields which would play mostly a role in a autumn-campaign I will choose autumn textures, otherwise its abit useless ;)

Yes this site is awesome!

Also, if you are interested in old Aerodromes, there are the books of "Anciens Aérodromes", which gave the history of an aerodrome since its beginning until today. I see on their website that will release in June 2014 an "Atlas of Somme WW1 Military Airfields", don't know what exactly will be in, but I'll probably buy it considering that I already own two of their previous books (Lille-Ronchin and Merville-Calonne) and they are quite good, of course its not focused on WW1, but there are some photos, even aerial from that time.

Yes for sure. In Reims case as J.j said, the two "main" battles (without 1st Marne of course) are Chemins des Dames (spring 1917, but with some snow on the ground), and 2nd Battle of the Marne (Summer 1918). Malmaison was a less intense battle.

Thats a good site, I bookmarked it some time ago.
So the 2nd Battle of the Marne seems the easiest way to go.
Right now I don't have the time, but its good to have some ideas in mind ;)

Salut!

Yes, that a nice idea too. Actually there are so many things possible and I have so many ideas, but not enough time :(
Its a bit sad only a handful of people are trying their hands on modding.
